Illegal Mezcal custom NIke AF1s

In 2006, I had the opportunity to Iive in Oaxaca Mexico for 4 months. It was life changing. the locals kept offering me a smoky tasting unbranded liquor called Mezcal. For those of you that remember, Mezcal was not widely known in the United States at that time. I felt like I knew a secret.

Here is a picture of the headband I brought back from Oaxaca for my dog Grizz.

At the same time, in the same place, there was a man named John Rexer who had a bar in Antigua, Guatemala. He would travel to Oaxaca to buy some of this local Mezcal to carry in his Cafe.

Fast forward almost 20 years, my path finally crosses with John's. B Street teamed up with Ilegal Mezcal (which is the name of his brand) to create some custom Nikes with inspiration taken from their bottle. The whole shoe has a look of a slow roasted agave plant, with design taken from the label of the bottle. We added on their rabbit logo, the cross and made the Nike swoosh drip like the wax from the bottle.
