One morning I was taking walking my dog Maya along the beach. It was around 6:30am and the sun started to peak over the hills and light up the sky. At the time I was on the basketball courts in Newport Beach and had to take a picture. The light was bouncing off the backboard in a way that needed to be captured.
Later on after looking at the picture enough, I wanted those colors to be remember on a Jordan sneaker. So I decided to make my own. I had a pair of brand new Neutral Grey Jordan Retro '85 Lows that were a perfect candidate for the customization.
I brought out the tubs of hot water and poured in different colors of RIT dye. I dipped the shoes in but only for a few seconds, because I wanted to keep the color LIGHT. Not too saturated.
After washing out the shoes and letting them dry, I grabbed my sheet of Italian tumbled leather and cut out my Nike Swooshes.
After sewing on the Nike Swooshes I finished with some 54" sail color laces from Lace Lab.
