This is a really cool story about where to find custom sneaker design inspiration. There is a grandma named Maggie who reached out and told us she was taking her family to Austria for vacation and wanted to get everyone in her family going on the trip customized Nikes. How cool is that!?
She submitted a few inspiration pictures and instantly knew this is something I could work with. I did a pattern like this in the past on some Jordan 4s, so I knew it was going to look good, but be challenging.
After we vectored the design, we cut vinyl that would be exact match to the outfits they wore in the movie. The process of this was masking down everywhere we wanted to not get paint, then laying down the army green shade of paint.
After weeding out the vinyl and laying it down in the spots that we wanted (which took a really long time) we airbrushed the tan coat which completely transformed the look.
The big reveal is always the best part. Taking off the tape can be daunting because if you made a mistake, this is usually when you find out.
We painted this design on Jordan 1 Low tops, Nike AF1 low tops and comfortable Saucany's for grandma Maggie.
The outfits they wore in the movie definitely not hype, but the way they turned out on the shoe was probably one of my favorite projects to date. If you have seen a pattern that you think is under rated, send it over and that might be our next custom.
