New Years 2015 was ushered in on the island of Puerto Rico. My girlfriend (now wife) Megan and 6 friends were staying in Rincon Puerto Rico. It was the first time we had been there. Our friend Gian Carlo grew up on the island, so it had always been a priority to visit. New Years evening I got down on one knee and proposed to Megan at a party with all our friends. We were at the Copamarina Beach Resort & Spa filled with lush tropical flowers and noisy Coqui frogs. If there is any way to experience a night in Puerto Rico, it's New Years Eve at The Resort. Right on the beach and short drive to Rincon to surf. The rooms we're luxury and the food was amazing. I miss it and plan on being back for this New Years Eve.
I had always known about these frogs that are smaller than a U.S. Dime because Gian Carlo had a tattoo of one on his wrist. Hearing the frogs in person made me fascinated with this little amphibian. When dusk settles in, the Coqui frogs come out and they are LOUD. It's amazing how much noise can come from such a little animal.
When recently asked by a client to make her another pair of custom Toms to represent her Puerto Rican heritage, I drew inspiration straight from my travel pictures. All the flowers in the topics are beautiful, and the careful landscaping of Copa Marina didn't disappoint. Check out this pictures below to see the finished product of those custom Coqui Frog Toms.
