Steve McQueen "The King of Cool" was a top box-office draw of the 1960s and 1970s. In 1974, he became the highest-paid movie star in the world. He starred in movies like The Sand Pebbles, The Cincinnati Kid, The Thomas Crown Affair and The Getaway. Recently I had a chance to collaborate with a huge Steve McQueen fan to make a custom pair of Converse dedicated to Steve McQueen and his cult classic film Bullitt. The design on these shoes was inspired by the movie posters from the 1968 film. Check out the pics below and let me know what your favorite Steve McQueen movie is in the comments!
I had a lot of fun with this project. These custom Vans were painted for Joshua Piuma and his groomsmen. This has to be the best Groomsmen gift. These guys are world conqourers and have traveled the globe together. Islands they have been to are: Block Island, Sandy Point, Tinsley Island, UK, Hong Kong, Saint Barthelemy and Ko Pha Ngan. We decided for this custom order that putting those islands on the shoes would be the most symbolic of their travels. We spiced it up with some topographical lines coving the shoes. Take a look at the picture below and send me an email: firstname.lastname@example.org if you want want to get your groomsmen styled out.
Big Hero 6 was The best Disney Animated movie of 2014. These custom painted Vans were made for a Big Hero 6 fan. The movie is about a 14 year old robotics prodigy named Hiro Hamada. After the death of his parents, he spends his time in illegal robotics fights. The story is then of him making friends with Baymax and getting a grant from a university in the fictional city of 'San Fransokyo' Check the pictures below to see the painted Vans. Send me an email email@example.com to get yourself a custom pair of painted shoes.
New Years 2015 was ushered in on the island of Puerto Rico. My girlfriend (now wife) Megan and 6 friends were staying in Rincon Puerto Rico. It was the first time we had been there. Our friend Gian Carlo grew up on the island, so it had always been a priority to visit. New Years evening I got down on one knee and proposed to Megan at a party with all our friends. We were at the Copamarina Beach Resort & Spa filled with lush tropical flowers and noisy Coqui frogs. If there is any way to experience a night in Puerto Rico, it's New Years Eve at The Resort. Right on the beach and short drive to Rincon to surf. The rooms we're luxury and the food was amazing. I miss it and plan on being back for this New Years Eve.
I had always known about these frogs that are smaller than a U.S. Dime because Gian Carlo had a tattoo of one on his wrist. Hearing the frogs in person made me fascinated with this little amphibian. When dusk settles in, the Coqui frogs come out and they are LOUD. It's amazing how much noise can come from such a little animal.
When recently asked by a client to make her another pair of custom Toms to represent her Puerto Rican heritage, I drew inspiration straight from my travel pictures. All the flowers in the topics are beautiful, and the careful landscaping of Copa Marina didn't disappoint. Check out this pictures below to see the finished product of those custom Coqui Frog Toms.

YOU LIFT BRO? If you're serious about lifting and want the stability needed for the heavy plates, you need the Nike Romaleos 2. When I got my hands on these I couldn't believe how stiff the heels of these shoes were. Definitely worth the $200 price tag. These shoes were hand painted with a camo pattern on black leather. Recently I had the chance to collaborate on a design with Franck Lada of Courant Ltd, self described as a London Based Clothing Label with a sub-cultural approach. The design of choice was definitely Emoji inspired which made a fun pattern going across these white authentic Vans. Check out this pics below and let me know what you think in the comments!

The re release of the black/black AJ1s is a sneaker artist's dream canvas. Clean lines, clean leather, perfect to be painted! This client wanted me to take the direction with this project, and I had something in mind for these. Of course first comes shoe prep with rubber gloves, Acetone, cotton balls and tape. If you want to learn more about that check out my in depth blog post HERE. First I layered a few coats of different shades of green Jacquard paint. Then came a few layers of metallic gold and copper.
Next I hand cut each leaf of the masking tape and added some more coats of color. The next two pictures below are a screen grab from my Snapchat.
Tape comes off! Then a few coats of protection with the acrylic finisher and done!
Done and trying not to get attached>>>

The heels say Conspiracy Theory and CFE Arena to commemorate his 2/19/2016 show and Conspiracy Theory tour. Check out the pics below of the process.
